A downloadable dungeon

Nightroot Maze is a classic straightforward dungeon written for old school systems like The Black Hack or Old School Essentials. Everything is broadly compatible with modern dungeon crawlers like 5E as well. This dungeon is suited for 3-6 players at 1st level or 2-4 at 2nd level.

A simple hook gets players straight to the action for 11 rooms of danger and treasure. The environment tells a simple story; a long lost skeleton kingdom and the dead Gnolls who smelled their treasure.

Inside you'll find:

  • 11 different keyed rooms
  • A half dozen unique spins on classic monsters
  • A handful of traps, obvious, hidden, or devilish, but never pure "gotcha"
  • A classic "twist the object" puzzle
  • Enough treasure to level up
  • A shrieking skeleton monarch
  • Unique "d6+room number" encounters that gradually shift as the party explores

At every stage, players are given the option of choosing further danger, ratcheting the tension as they know what's coming, and they choose death anyways.

Downloadable images are provided for: digital map for VTT use, ooze image, and a gorgeous full-color tapestry illustrated by Evlyn Moreau!
